LA Erupts in Celebration as Dodgers Claim Back-to-Back World Series Championship
The City of Angels witnessed citywide festivities after the Dodgers won a thrilling seven-match World Series title. Supporters across the globe joined Angelenos in jubilation, marking the first time in 25 years that a team has secured back-to-back championships.
Celebration Parade Draws Massive Crowds
Local events included a downtown parade on the morning of the parade, a reserved-seating event at the team's home stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Social media videos show thousands of Angelenos packing downtown streets, many displaying homemade signs and team flags. The team was seen riding high on a open-top bus through the crowds, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the next championship we’re going to achieve this,” Shohei Ohtani remarked through an interpreter.
The procession path concluded at the stadium, where the players walked out to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ providing music and the artist cruising a light blue vintage Cadillac around the field.
Early Celebrations and Athlete Responses
Festivities started prior to the parade, with Dodgers fans setting off flares in the roads of Downtown Los Angeles on the previous evening.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, awarded the MVP of the championship, spoke directly about the win.
“We refuse to lose,” Yamamoto stated. “I adore this team. I love Los Angeles.”
Varied Responses and City Unity
However, the team owner was met with a less warm welcome at the celebration. Recordings from the event appear to show him walking onstage to a combination of cheers and boos, with jeers interrupting his address.
The World Series served as a bright spot in what has been a challenging year for the city. An estimated quarter-million people showed up to the championship parade last year, and according to team member Freddie Freeman, supporters this year demonstrated equal or greater enthusiasm.
“It seems it’s nearly twice from last year,” he remarked. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
